This build is a replica of a customers 1951 Ford F-150 Resto-Mod. I am lucky that a majority of the truck is similar to the Ford COE. I was able to use the cab, grill and front end. New fenders and a hood needed to be made. I also had do lop off a section at the bottom and add a patch for the door.

I still need to pick a chassis to use. His idea is to use it on pavement or hard-pack only. The real truck is pretty low, so no issue with suspension style. Any suggestions on chassis would be appreciated.

Another killer build!!! Love those 3D pieces!! The term Resto-mod usually means a low stance. So was he planning on maybe a "C" notch design for the rear suspension? Is his current suspension protruding in to the bed?

Thanks, here are some pictures. I may have the category wrong, but it looks like the original truck but lowered and has a nicer interior.

I?m going to have fun figuring that out how to paint the flames!

Yeah, getting it that low will be a bit challenging. Let me know if I can help! Also PARMA (#10786) has a flame mask set that looks very similar to that design. This is XXX Main's set. https://www.ebay.com/itm/XXX-Main-R...105361?hash=item1a9478f791:g:7xYAAOSwS3JefPyO

Was able to get a bit done with the bed. Still need to make outer fender molds, but pleased with the inner ones.

I?m trying to pick out the chassis for the truck. It?s going on the street and will have big tires in the rear. Doesn?t have to look scale so anything will work. Wheelbase is 325mm and track width is around 210mm. I should be able to adjust wheelbase easily but track width would be harder. Any suggestions on platforms to use?

No Idea on a chassis wes, But that body is coming along very cool.

Absolutely love looking at the first top photo of it.
Pretty amazing.

Luck on a chassis.::2thumbs

Looks great Wes!

Could you use some regular scx10 rails and link it?

Or maybe if it's going to be leafed without much travel you could just use some straight ali stock, like a Tamiya High Lift?

The real one is lowered with giant wide tires in the rear. Probably a RWD go fast chassis if I had to guess. Just don?t want to do too much re-engineering if I can help it.

A GCM Cmax would be very cool, with their transmission without the transfer-case. Or a trail finder LWB chassis with their scale transmission with a drive shaft direct to the rear axle.

I now that these are both expensive options though.

I believe that beef-tubes makes a narrow scx10-2 axle that would tuck some wide tires under there nicely. If you wanted to go leaf springs, than the boom-racing brx70 has the spring mounts, is very narrow, and uses scx102 gears as well.
