DougJ's Trusty Rusty TF2

Just wanted to share some photos of my TF2. If you visit Scale4x4RC you may have seen it over there. I've had this thing for over a year and although it's not really a 'build' per se I have made lots of little tweaks, improvements, and additions to it over time, sort of like you would to a real truck.

Besides the cosmetic stuff like wheels/tires/armor/bodywork/etc. the only big change is the R3 Single-Speed gearbox, all other changes are done using stock parts. I can't get over how fun it is to drive. It's one of those trucks that just "works."

Thanks so much guys! Here's some more recent photos.

The right door and fender were getting really chewed up, much more so than the rest of the truck. I figured if it was a real truck that door would be ruined by now, so I "replaced" it ;)

I also primer'd the right fender as a little tribute to 1badjeepbruiser, whose builds have been a big inspiration to me (among many others).

Love watching this evolve over time.

True that... I really enjoy how your photo updates are kind a like a progression in the life of the truck. Although on your current trajectory the frame is eventually going to rust and crack somewhere. ;-)

Thanks guys! The 'progression over time' is something I love to see in builds, it makes them feel much more real to me.

Here's a few photos from today's trailrun. The leaves are coming down and my trail needs to be raked more often, but the scenery and colors make it worth it.

generis

Maybe take up knitting.
I notice you've got a 'new fender' and a 'new door' there. Did something bad happen on a back road at some point?

I love watching the evolving character of this truck.

Thanks, man! It's a fun process.

Haha, thankfully no backroad accidents. The trails however are a different story. Darn rocks!

We had a little snowmelt today so I took the opportunity to do some tiny truck photography.

Fantastic weathering job sir! Love the scrapes. Nice pictures as well. Always good to see things in their natural habitat.

Thank you guys! Speaking of nature, I woke up to a little treat in the backyard trail this morning.

I love fresh snow like this, when it sticks to the trees and there's just enough on the ground to be scale.

The stream near the trail was also totally frozen. Turns out the Rock Stompers aren't too bad on ice ;)
