more:

These LEDs were a PITA to mount. When I did the rear section, didn't thought in practicability to mount lights. But was doable:

It's a printed taillight with a real piece of stoplight inside :)

Headlights and winch:

And this:

You guys don't imagine for how long I'm waiting for that extra bit of patience to fit the weatherstripping in the windows and then, the wipers

Woooow!! Very nice Cooper!! I love it. You take care of all the details. Nice work ::2thumbs:luv:

Thanks!

It's been a while after the last update. Nothing much has been done. After the front and rear windows, left the corner windows for last.

Honestly, I was expecting them to be hard but not that hard. Starting by the fact I needed to heat form the curved windows and then do the weatherstripping . Quit the idea of using rubber and make a paste with putty and black paint to apply and close the gaps

Could have turned out better but will do

Your half track manufactures left me with an inclination that i require one of those to however not a half track, i ought to go to a full followed vehicle, the Unanimous assemble it's in somewhat of a halt since it needs a decent measure of metal manufacture and i required a polystyrene work to do on the week...

You have 2 solutions to not have the trouble i had with mine:

-you can build on top of a 1/16 tank chassis;

-if you have acess to a 3d printer, iceman88 is releasing the files of his 3d printed m548 on Thingiverse

well, too much time without updates. M548 was nearly considered done, only needs the smoke generator fitted and paint the hull but there's something more important.the henglong gearboxes are not up to the task.I'm already on the second set.

Working on new system using these gearboxes:

Ordered a 30:1 to test

Thought of machine the structure but 3d printing could do the job

First of all, I'll not say that this was my original creation

There's a german shop( https://www.modellspiegel.com/) who created and sells these gearboxes for 1/16 tanks:

I had several ideas for the new drivetrain and the chosen was heavily influenced by this layout above

But I the time, I'm not in condition of forking out all that money and also like to do things myself as much as possible

To the build, this is where it sits now:

Tomorrow will do a test trial to see if the ratio it's good or not, and then order the other gearbox

First trial of the setup on 3s. It's so good when things work at first try. Unfortunately, the gearbox it's too fast(33:1,actually), I've already ordered a slower one. The only bad thing was that the bores on the gears are a bit off center, that's why it sounds that way

Weathering is addictive.
Tracked vehicles take such a strong a place in my heart. Great build, enjoyed every page. Hope to see more progress and vids!

Don't you just hate when you go on the local junkyard get replacements for your 60's tracked truck and they even got the right color?

Seriously, this one was printed on PETG instead of PLA. The odd color was on sale at the time. It will be painted OD anyway

Good news everybody!

Things have been quiet but I'm working on the new transmission as parts arrive.

The test 33:1 gearbox was been replaced by twin 56:1 gearboxes and got the right pinions so was a matter of making the shafts, spacers and assembling everything

The transmission structure will be replaced by a V2 version that fits better on the hull

I thought the truck would be ready by now but I've had a few setbacks. For now, I can show you the drivetrain working outside the m548
It's not a feat of engineering but I'm pretty happy with it. The old one was loud

The setbacks were about parts availability, because the engeneering is all there! Congrats my friend! :D

That's awesome man keep it up

Thanks! I'll try to improve the looks now because there's not much else to do

Yes,it was like the Unimog all over again. Must do simple trucks from now on :p . Next time we'll trail together, you can try this improved version

there it is,assembled and working. Just need a cover to reduce some noise and prevent that some LED wires don't get caught on the gears. The electronics are not in place because I'm about to take everything out to paint the hull

Dollhouse stuff:

Thought that the operator needed some goggles for his helmet. The first idea was to scratchbuild everything but my Dremel broke so I've copied the goggles' frame from the real army model and 3d printed it.The lens are from a bit of clear package plastic and the strap is a strip of bicycle inner tube
