You?re doing a great job here mate. I love the way the troubles and indecisions come over through the post because its exactly what I?m going through. Its coming along nicely and is pushing me to finish the Hilux so I can start a new build [emoji1303]

Thank you UpsideDownRC! There was lots of staring a the thing throughout the build for sure, wondering how to do this or that  Thanks for the nice words! And now I think I need to make some wipers

Thanks guys!

So I picked my tools and favorite leftover sintra piece for tonight's work

Cut some blades and pivot arms

Then glued a piece of paper clip into a small thinner recess in the arm (buffed the paperclip at an angle on the blade side so you don't really see the end, it kind of melts into the blade..)

Now some before and after! Fills a void I think! Used to look a bit like a too high lower eyelid  I am wondering if I should leave the stick metallic or paint it black, whadyouthink?

It's me again.
Awesome update.
My eyes are so happy Fred...
I like the looks of the silver and black..... Gives even a little bit more character.

Just the few little recent details added really bring it home.
And they are all scratch built beautiful ... Just awesome.

Now how about some Scale Hood and Trunk pins. ?;):laughing::laughing:

Great Build. ALL WIN!

Thanks Ron, much appreciated! Thanks for the ideas :) Now I started on the tailights, used a thin piece of AA batteries wrap that happens to have about the right radius for the corner. Will post pics of the process, once it is pic worthy :)

Ok you win. Look epic.

Fantastic! Great idea to use paperclips!!

Thanks dagabba! Turned out ok I think!

I decided to try the tail lights with some AA batteries packaging material, it is pretty thin so the goal is to cut to shape, scratch it from the back to get some texture, mask and paint from inside for red and amber colors.

Then I put some aluminum tape on the backside, and glued these on. I would have like to have more texture seeeing through the plastic, but it looks better than the stickers! I might try to scratch the outside with the hobby knife in a cross pattern, what do you think? Better smooth like currently, or try to scratch it? I'm afraid of making it worse if I don't get the pattern straight. I used a ruler to do the inside scratches, can't do that now.

I like them. Way better then stickers.
I think if you could paint the out side edges Black, Thin Lines, it will make them POP and maybe a fine tip marker to separate the colors vertically Chrome or Black.... Just an Idea.:hmmm:
Anther idea is some super thin wire like off Headphones, or something electronic, Like some people use and do for window gasket looks. Thats again just for the out side profile.

I wouldn't add more exterior definition scratched in details.

Looking great, if it had a license's plate back their.....it would be the cats Meow.
Last few updates on the little details are really paying off....Turning out just super fantastic.::bigdrool

EDIT....great job on picking that plastic too...I'll be using that tip no doubts, I have some of those Battery packages.

Lights are looking great.

One suggestion though- rather than backing with foil, why not make little boxes from plastic and paint that silver?

Gives you somewhere to put LEDs and just gives the light housing depth. I think the texture on the inside looks fantastic already!

Thanks Ron, I too would like them to have a bit more thickness... In retrospective, maybe I should have found something black, cut the same shape but just a bit larger so it exceeds the sides, and glue it under the clear piece + aluminum backing. It would have looked like a thin black surround.

And yes about the licence plate :D Maybe I'll ask my girlfriend to use her Cricut to cut a number shape and put it on some white plastic piece. Thanks again my friend!

Well done. Another option is this:

Thanks theHoegie, I'm trying to find an alternative to the stickers, these look nice though. I'd like them to explain better how it works though hahaha it seems like they are trying to keep a secret :)

Thanks dagabba, yes I agree a 3D housing would definitely be the ideal look. I thought about first cutting a hole the shape of the lights into the car (since I already painted the body without masking the taillights.... duh) to install light buckets from inside, but then had second thoughts and dropped the dremel for a second.

I thought it would make the body a bit too fragile since there is already a big crack going down just where the right tail light is. I had to do a repair from inside, I plan to actually drive the car with the body so I don't want it to shatter too easily.

Thanks guys for stirring the ideas, maybe I'll redo these as buckets, with a rubber contour at some point :) after doing a licence plate

kildan

Newbie but not really new
hi frederik
super nice update on your escort
you are really pushing this lexan body into another level with all these new details (good job 2beers for your challenging ideas hehehe)
now your body is more on the same level with the frame you do
keep up your great work!!

Thanks a bunch Kildan! I surprised myself how far I brought it aestetically and body details speaking, I know there are lots of more detailed builds than this, but for me it was first time ever at doing scale stuff, as I said previously my initial goal was really more mechanical. Glad I jumped in though, I like the thing I made! And yes with the support and ideas you guys have, it really helps!

Now I'm still waiting for my girlfriend to cut some licence plate letters decals for me, either that or I'll learn to use the Cricut myself
