Winch troubleshooting

Howdy all.

So I've got a tf2 with stock electronics and the RTR radio, and I just got a winch (Z-E0075) for it. I soldered up a little extension harness to reach the receiver, but regardless of what channel I plug it into, or what the trims are set to on the radio, the winch kicks on immediately (winding in) when I turn the truck on.

Do I need to swap some pins around on the receiver end of the harness? Is the winch faulty? Or was I just mistaken to think it was compatible with the 3rd channel on the RTR radio?

Here's some reference pics of the harness:

All help is appreciated

Hey SofaKing ;)

I put a "Yeah Racing" winch on my SCX10 and used yeah racings wireless remote + receiver because I have no 3rd channel on my radio.

Anyway RC4WD's info on their winch is below

What's Included:
1x RC4WD 1/10 Warn 8274 Winch
4x M2.5 x 4mm SHCS (Black) (Z-S0760)
4x M2.5 x 6mm SHCS (Black) (Z-S0855)
1x RC4WD Warn Winch Pull Tags (Z-S1660)
1x Warn Decal Sheet Set

Required Parts:
RC4WD Warn 1/10 Wireless Remote/Receiver Winch Controller Set (Z-S1092)
RC4WD Wired Winch Control Unit (Z-S1089)

I would have a chat to "HeyOk" here on SBG >

You need a winch controller. Its just a motor inside the winch.

Banggood sells GRC controllers that work awesomely.

I would strongly suggest one of these...

RPP will get it to you in a few days (if you are located the USA). These HeyOK winch controllers won't creep out on you if the trim is off slightly. They need a certain amount of voltage to "kick on". Once you use one you'll never go back.

If you are in Canada you can purchase them from AL himself at HeyOK.

Hey thanks for all the responses folks. I was under the impression that the winch controller was built into the receiver, thanks for clarifying that for me. I'll be ordering the HeyOK controller on SmallFactorys recommendation.

Thanks again all, much appreciated!
